Unleashed (The Pirate & Her Princess #3) by Alli Temple, narrated by Emily Woo Zeller

In this last book of the trilogy, George and Lou get the closure they – and we – needed

I really enjoyed this series. I have from book 1, Uncharted, when George and Lou were first reacquainted and had to find their way back to each other after years of living very different lives. In Unbroken, the second book, we got to see them work together towards a better world, and this final instalment, Unleashed, is the continuation of this and the book that marks George’s growth, from a tentative rebel to a very plausible potential queen. I loved seeing her live up to Lou’s hopes. Character growth is one of my favourite things and Alli Temple gives us plenty.

In this last book of the trilogy, the characters get the closure they – and we – needed. As in the previous books, there’s a lot of action, suspense, and twists, with new secondary characters, both good and villains. Rosie, Ender, Maro are still around and great as ever, if a little more in the background.

Unleashed (The Pirate & Her Princess #3) by Alli TempleAlthough I again felt she overdid the drama a bit here and there (which added to the mood, so maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing), Emily Woo Zeller’s narration is on point, with perfect pacing and distinctive voices.

Uncharted was told from George’s point of view, Unbroken from Lou’s. Unleashed (the titles are perfect, by the way) is told from both and it makes complete sense. None of these books are standalones and if you haven’t yet, you should start from the beginning. 4 stars.
