‘Rewriting the ending’ is the first book by Australian author H. P. Tune. I appreciate the effort and time invested in writing a book but unfortunately, it didn’t work for me.

I have some issues with this book starting by the way it’s been marketed. Judging from the blurb and cover (I know what they say about not judging a book by its cover), this book should have been a romantic comedy rather than an angst ridden melodrama. Even if you read a sample you might get confused on how the story develops from a lighter tone to a melodramatic tour de force. This takes me to the other issue I have with this book which is the amount of conflict and drama that the main characters have to overcome. All these conflicts make the story difficult to believe and they are overcome too fast. Additionally, the secondary characters are either good or bad with no room for contradictions.

The writting is also very descriptive of what the characters are thinking and some of the dialogues are irrelevant to the plot and go on forever. I agree with one of the reviews that the amount of drinking is worrying.

In a nutshell, not at all what I was expecting and the surprise wasn’t pleasant at all. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3.
