A promising debut novel
This is a very good debut book by British author S-Jay Hart, a product of the Covid lockdown. The pandemic killed writing inspiration for many authors but opened up the chance for others to shine. This is the case with Oh my Stars.
Honey Rosenberg has spent her entire life in the small town of Verity Vale dedicated to baking sweet goods in the family deli. She’s happy with her life until things around her take a turn for the worse. Liv Henderson thought she had it all, living in the city with a beautiful girlfriend and a great job. But when family circumstances force her to go to Verity Vale she’ll find things she didn’t know she needed…
This is a very sweet romance with the setting of a small town. The story puts emphasis on the importance of family, values and love. The author gives us some tidbits of wisdom about the fundamental things in life and the transformative experience of love.
This is Hart’s debut novel and it’s not without flaws. I found that the “black moment” felt a bit forced but overall it’s a feel-good romance that will leave the reader with a message of hope and joy in living. I’m looking forward to reading whatever S-Jay Hart writes next. 4 stars.
