No Rings Attached by Rachel Lacey

No Rings Attached by Rachel Lacey, narrated by Zara Hampton-Brown

A very good fake relationship romance

Rachel Lacey is slowly climbing on my list of favourite authors. I love how she writes, the chemistry she builds between the characters, the settings, and the tension she creates in her stories.

Lia Harris doesn’t fit with her uptight family and doesn’t want to go to her brother’s wedding alone so she asks her friend Rosie for help who delivers with the fun, gorgeous Grace Poston. Grace isn’t looking for love and hates weddings but when she meets Lia, their chemistry is undeniable… do they have any future together?

No Rings Attached is book two in the Ms. Right series, both books are standalone but I recommend starting with book one, Read Between the Lines, as the main characters in that book are very important secondary characters here, especially Rosie. Beyond romance, friendship and family ties play a very important role in this story.

This is a fake relationship romance with the added complication that Lia (who is British) lives in the US and Grace is an American living in the UK. Ms. Lacey builds their chemistry in a realistic way despite that the mains have only a few days to bond through their fake relationship and forced closed proximity. The initial fake relationship evolves into a no-strings attachment which opens up a lot of complications to get to their happily ever after.

Zara Hampton-Brown is a British narrator who did a good job in performing the different accents across the Atlantic. Her voices for the different characters are distinctive and the performance of emotions is spot on. I’ve never listened to this narrator before but I wouldn’t mind picking up one of her audiobooks again.

Overall, a very good fake relationship romance that deals with friendship and family ties. 4.5 stars.
